Formation of Fe-19 wt%Cr-9 wt%Ni Nanocrystalline Alloy with Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Phase Transition and Microstructure

In this paper, microstructure characteristics and phase transitions of Fe-19 wt%Cr-9 wt%Ni nanocrystalline alloy are comprehensively studied during the mechanical alloying hot pressing sintering processes. Corrosion resistance sintered samples is further analyzed. During process, powders mainly composed metastable ferrite obtained after for 8, 16 24 h, respectively. subsequent (from to austenite) occur from 650 750 °C milled h. When temperature raised 1050 1 has transformed into austenite completely, grain size around 40 nm. Electrochemistry test been operated in 0.5 mol L−1 H2SO4 solution show corrosion properties. Results that exhibits excellent resistance, which proved by higher self-corrosion potential, lower current density larger capacitive reactance, compared with commercial 304 stainless steel.
